I've been working with my friend and local racer, Steve Woo, to develop a new aluminum hardtail for the Cape Epic race. Steve races locally for Fusion Sport and is an all around great guy...in fact I met him at Interbike while he was working the Accelerade booth a couple of years ago. Steve's new bike is built from Easton Ultralite tubing in the front triangle and Columbus s-bend chainstays with my signature upper yoke at the rear triangle.
Steve's new frame is built for speed and should be a nice replacement for his trusty titanium Dean frame. Since the Cape Epic is a multi-day stage race in Africa, the components need to be durable and appropriate for the terrain. Stan's NoTubes will outfit Steve's WTB Laser Disc Lite wheelset and we're even using Velocity Veloplugs in the nipple holes in case a real tube is ever needed. Kenda Kozmic Lites and spare Karma DTC tires for differing terrain.
Below is an in-process photo and stay tuned for more blog udpates as the bike nears completion. Still waiting for a set of Hayes Stroker carbon brakes and then the bike should be complete! And be sure to check out Steve's blog.
